This year’s Albury Wodonga Big Splash is set to take place on the evening of Wednesday 2nd of March and BMG is very proud to be associated with the event. A community event organised to raise awareness for mental health, the Big Splash is now into its third year and growing in popularity year-on-year.

This event holds particular importance for BMG director, Stephen Mamouney, who is one of the founding members of the Organising Committee.

Stephen and his family have had a very long association with the Baker family, who tragically lost their daughter, Mary, to mental illness in 2011. This tragic event further reinforced the need for mental health resources to be increased in the region.

The Bakers took up the fight, and along with a number of other passionate people, campaigned for a head space in Albury. As a result of their hard work it was announced in July 2013 that a head space would open up in Albury.

The opening of the head space then provided a cause that the Baker family and a number of others could get behind and offer their support in memory of Mary.

Mary was an enthusiastic and talented member of the Albury Tigers Water Polo Club, who, as a group, were keen to do something to honour her memory and in doing so raise money for mental illness. And so the Albury Wodonga Big Splash was born.

There are a variety of ways individuals and groups that can get involved in this fun community event. We would encourage everyone to get their friends and family together to form a team and together we can make another big splash when it comes to raising funds and awareness for this important issue.
